Judging

Preliminary judging and judge training session will be held Friday, May 16, 2003 7-10 PM. Majority of the judging will be held Saturday, May 17, 2003 starting at 9:30 AM. Qualified judging of all entries is the primary goal of the event. Three judges will evaluate and score each entry using a 50 point system. The average of the three scores will rank each entry in its category. Each flight will have at least one BJCP judge. If a category has more than 11 entries, it is a candidate for preliminary judging or it will be split into two flights. Categories with a small number of entries may be combined at the discretion of the competition organizers. The Director of Judges or other qualified person will review elements of beer categories and styles with each panel prior to judging. The Best of Show will be determined by a blue ribbon panel based on a second judging of the top winning entries.
